December 2018:

Total Books Read: 5

Total Pages Read: 1716 pages (55 pages/day)

1) All the Light We Cannot See ~ Anthony Doerr (4/5 Stars) (530 of 530 Pages) (Addresses the Subject of The Holocaust, Two Different Timelines and Character Plotlines, The Action, Mystery, and Suspense Is Worth It Until the End)

Something that I must say about this novel is that it is quite a long novel of 530 pages. For me as a reader, it took me a bit to get accustomed to the narration style of Mr. Doerr’s novel because they are short chapters that switch between two characters, and on top of that, switch between the present and the past. Initially, it was quite confusing to me and can be a turn-off for some, but I chose to stick with it, due to the aspect of mystery and action, along with the subtle ways of portraying normal life for these two characters. I started to become hooked as I read about half the novel, which says a lot about the progression of the novel, but I do say it is worth it to read until the end, even if it does have a bit of a slow start.

2) They Both Die at the End ~ Adam Silvera (368 of 368 pages) (5/5 stars) (Re-read it from January 2018)

3) The Sun and Her Flowers ~ Rupi Kaur (In Progress: 193 of 256 pages)

4) A Man Called OveFredrik Backman (337 of 337 pages) (4/5 Stars) (Comedic, Unique Plotline, An Old Man Opening Up His Heart)

This is a unique novel I came across, and I must say that I love the way the novel is presented. With the narrator being an old man who initially seems like a stubborn mean, elderly man who does not belong in this current decade, as we progress in the novel, I started to warm up to him. Especially with the jumping of timelines (which was not confusing and very key to the novel), along with the extensive use of other characters within the novel, I would highly recommend this as a candy read.

5) The Girl With Ghost Eyes ~ M.H. Boroson (288 of 288 pages) (4/5 Stars) (Action/Combat, Spirits, Perseverance Against All Odds)

This was a novel that I picked up from the library, and I was quite interested with the topics it covered, such as the incorporation of Chinese history and folklore, seeing spirits, and a lot of action/combat between the main character and other characters. I enjoyed the realistic way that the main character was required to persevere through her circumstances and make decisions that cannot be taken lightly. I enjoyed the adventure that this novel brought me, and it was a very interesting read.
